Royal Palm Marrakech is an 18-hole, par-72 course designed by Cabell B. Robinson at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, about 20–25 minutes south-west of Marrakech. Opened in 2013 on the Fairmont Royal Palm estate, it measures 6,608 metres from the back tees and winds through 75 hectares of olive groves and gardens. The course is the centrepiece of the Domaine Royal Palm, a resort estate on the Route d’Amizmiz with a five-star Fairmont hotel, villas and a country club. Snow-capped Atlas peaks form the backdrop for much of the year, and it is regularly ranked among the best courses in Morocco.
Cabell B. Robinson laid out a gently undulating parkland course on both banks of the Oued Ghord, with century-old olive trees, bougainvillea, roses and hibiscus giving it a garden-like feel. The fairways are relatively open, but water, bunkers and well-defended greens keep it a proper test, and multiple tees make it enjoyable for all levels.
What makes it different: the setting. Ancient olive trees in the foreground and the Atlas Mountains behind make it one of the most photogenic rounds in North Africa.
