Golf El Rompido has two 18-hole, par-72 courses, North and South, set inside the Marismas del Río Piedras natural area near Cartaya, Huelva, both designed by Álvaro Arana. With no housing on either course, the 36 holes run through pine woods, orange groves and marshland on the Costa de la Luz. On this page you can check live tee time availability, compare green fees and book instantly, with free cancellation up to 24 hours before your round.
Golf El Rompido lies a few kilometres from the fishing village of El Rompido, beside the protected marshes of the Piedras River and the sand spit of the Flecha de El Rompido. It is the only 36-hole golf venue in the area, and its main selling point is nature: there are no houses along any of the fairways.
Álvaro Arana designed both courses with the environment in mind. The South course, opened in 2003, is flat and easy to walk, with large, fast greens. The North course, opened in 2006, is longer and more demanding, asking for both power and accuracy, and was named a “modern golf monument” by the Peugeot Golf Guide. A five-star resort hotel sits beside the courses.
Which course to book: the North for a longer, more demanding round; the South for a flatter, walkable course with some of the fastest greens in Andalusia.
Green fees at Golf El Rompido change with the season, the day of the week and the time of day, so the best way to see the exact price is to search your date in the booking box. As a general guide:
| When you play | What to expect |
|---|---|
| High season (Feb–May, Sep–Nov) | The most popular months for golf. Morning tee times sell out first, so book well in advance. |
| Low season (Jun–Aug, Dec–Jan) | Usually the lowest green fees of the year. In summer, play early or take a twilight time to avoid the midday heat. |
| Afternoon and twilight | Often cheaper than morning slots and ideal if you want a quieter round. |
| Weekdays vs weekends | Weekdays tend to have more availability; weekend slots fill up faster. |
The Costa de la Luz has a mild climate with over 3,000 hours of sunshine a year. Spring (February–May) and autumn (September–November) are the best months for golf. Summer is hot inland, so early tee times are the most comfortable.
The courses are at km 7 on the Cartaya–El Rompido road. From the A-49, take exit 105 (Cartaya beaches) and follow signs for El Rompido. Parking is available at the clubhouse.
