About Saint-Malo Golf Resort

The resort sits on the Domaine de Saint-Yvieux, an estate of more than 100 hectares in the north of Ille-et-Vilaine, between Saint-Malo, Dinan and the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel. A hotel and two restaurants are on site, so it works as a base for a golf break on the Emerald Coast.

Hubert Chesneau, who also designed Le Golf National near Paris, laid out the Surcouf course through woodland and around lakes and outcrops of Breton granite. It is a demanding test, with dog-legs, curving fairways, water and plenty of strategically placed bunkers. The 9-hole Old Course, a par 36, is shorter and accessible to every level, ideal for a warm-up or a quicker round.

Which course to book: the Surcouf for a full championship round; the Old Course for a shorter, more relaxed nine holes.

What to expect on the course

  • Forest and lakes. Woodland and water frame most holes on the Surcouf.
  • Granite outcrops. Natural Breton rock is part of the landscape and the strategy.
  • A real challenge. Dog-legs and well-placed bunkers reward a thoughtful game.
  • Practice facilities. Driving range with covered bays, chipping area and putting green.
  • Resort services. Restaurant, bar and locker rooms, with a hotel on the estate.
