Designed by Frank Pennink and opened in 1973, Aroeira Pines Classic (previously called Aroeira I) was affectionately christened the ‘Wentworth of Lisbon’ by the UK press and it is easy to see why.
Played through tall avenues of pine forest and surrounded by wildlife and nature, the golf course plays to 6,650 yards and demands accuracy and placement off the tee in order to maximise opportunities to hit the target greens in regulation.
Opened in April 2000, Aroeira Challenge (former called Aroeira II) was designed by the architect Donald Steel, who took care to comply with the recommendations of the European Tour and design a course capable of hosting the highest level of tournaments.
With 18 long greens bordering five large lakes, the tees on each hole allow the course to be played by all types of players.

The National Golf Club is situated in Quba in the north-west of Azerbaijan sitting at the foot of the breathtaking Caucasus Mountains. Designed by Jon Hunt from International Golf Design, this was the first golf course to open in the “land of fire”. During the summer of 2014 and less than two months after its official unveiling it was the host venue for the country’s inaugural professional event, the Azerbaijan Challenge Open.
